25 Announcements - $24.75
50 Name Cards (they only come in packs of 50) - $21.95
Cap, Gown, and Tassel - $32.95
Packaging and Handling - $10.00

Grand Total - $97.05!!!!!
That's crazy! We didn't even get very much - just the basics. We didn't' get special inner envelopes. We didn't get special graduation tissue inserts. We didn't get a scrapbook, or key ring, or hoodie. We didn't get any of the extras. And I still spent $97.05! And we haven't even done senior pictures yet. More major bucks there too!
Seniors are expensive to have around!

no kidding... it's insane! I ordered Em's stuff last week (finally, too) and I did almost identical to you except I went ahead and got 50 announcements, 50 namecards, cap, gown and tassel... again just the very slim basics and our grand total was like $120 something!!! We have done pictures (and weren't going to buy any, but...since she was in her cap and gown we bought the "smallest" package available) it was $170... can you believe that!? It is by no means enough to send out in her announcements either. I have taken some cute pictures of her to use otherwise, but it is ridiculous the expense, so I do agree with you ever so much!!!!!
Oddly enough, I haven't got the memo on any of this stuff! Ryan does not want to go to his graduation, nor could he care less - a family tradition - Gary never went to any of his - just had his diplomas mailed to him - so I am not sure if I am supposed to force him to do any of it. I really don't care about graduation either - so there is that - am I being a really bad mom?
The graduation stuff went home last fall. I think it was supposed to be ordered by March 2nd (which is when I ordered it). I think if it is ordered after that it might have to be picked up at Balfour instead of the school. But I'm not sure.
I don't know if Jeffrey wants to go to sgraduation or not - it's more for me than him! Even though it's pretty boring, I want to see it!
I hated graduation. I really didn't want to go, but I would've had to have thrown a mother-fit to get out of it. It's about as necessary as prom, in my book. And just as expensive.
So I might be the only one, but I didn't mind graduation. I have walked across the stage 3 times and enjoyed each experience. Perhaps it's because I worked really hard to get all 3 of those diplomas and wanted my moment of recognition? Perhaps I just like tormenting my parents and making them sit through long, tedious ceremonies?
Either way, I'm glad I never skipped out on graduation. It was worth it. (And the A&M graduation was actually fun!)
