But the radiators aren't the problem. The problem is that in older apartments, the temperature of the whole building is determined by the apartment complex. We don't have a thermostat in our apartment. The heat is turned on on October 15th, and since we didn't need it then, we turned off the radiators. When we did need heat (which happened while I was gone), Robert turned the radiators back on. That's when we discovered that it's much more reliable to have your own thermostat in your own apartment. Here, I'm either cold and wrapped up in a blanket, or hot and throwing blankets off of me!
I do not like being at the mercy of an apartment building!

Yeah, our thermostat just went out and caused the heater to not work at all. We were bundled up inside for a few days till we got it fixed. Really didn't appreciate the $360 bill that came with the fixing, though.
That's crazy! Stay warm! Or Cold... whichever applies right now!
After we were married Dave and I lived in a house divided into 4 apartments. We had old radiators and the one in the living room was huge and was turned on full blast and couldn't be turned down. The thermostat was in a different apartment and the guy that lived there set it to work with his radiator that wasn't turned on full blast. We had to leave the windows open during the winter for some of the time or we would die of heat (and I am usually freezing all winter so this was odd!) Radiators are not my favorite!
